Model proposal
As part of the TransCoSME project, designed to increase the effectiveness of the support service provided by the NCP network throughout Europe, 3 separate versions of an ‘example’ project proposal have been written in accordance with FP7 rules. They are intended to help applicant’s prepare their own individual submissions to the ‘Research for SMEs’ call. Having originally created 2 versions for the call opened in 2010, the current versions have been revised in line with the Work Programme for 2012, along with further version to illustrate the newly introduced Demonstration activity.
EDIPAFF (Research for SMEs Associations)
With contributions from several experienced NCPs and evaluators, and having been considered by REA and the European Commission, their content is based on an entirely fictitious product. They have been structured and designed to incorporate many features that a real application would contain, with additional guidance and explanations to clarify the ‘typical’ proposal text at certain key areas, in order to illustrate what a fully completed proposal would look like, and assist applicants when developing their own ‘unique’ proposal.
Although the example proposals are designed to be downloaded freely, it is recommended to use them in conjunction with the support available from the National Contact Point in each country. The proposals are designed to explain the main ideas and principles of proposal writing within the programme ‘Research for the benefit of SMEs’ - it is not a master copy of a proposal. Therefore the NCP network kindly requests all applicants to ask the responsible NCP for feedback on their proposals. This will provide a simple opportunity to access support to improve the proposals, and to check that all the formalities required by the call have been satisfied.
The NCP network is convinced that the example proposals will increase the chance of success when applicants use them as a dictionary, and adapt the written suggestions to their own needs to comprehensively define their project.
Feedback and suggestions on how they could be made more useful would be welcomed. Please contact the responsible work package leader Steve Bradley, at Beta Technology (tel: 01302 322633; steve.bradley@betatechnology.co.uk)
Good luck with the development of your proposal!
