Example project proposals - a helpfool tool for applicants
In the frame of the TransCoSME project 2 example project proposals has been produced: EDIPAC (Research for SMEs) and EDIPAFF (Research for SMEs Associations). These fictitious project proposals incorporate many features that a real structured, designed and formal project application would contain. They should be treated as a reference documents which will help would-be project applicants format their own submissions.

EAI - European Alliance for Innovation
The EAI initiative is a pan-European movement which will work as a unique Innovation Society composed of professionals at all levels of the Innovation Cycle. The unique approach of EAI consists of involving active participation of member organizations and empowering their communities through a grassroots paradigm, thus promoting effective technology transfer, entrepreneurial mindset in education, and increased competitiveness of European companies.
The EAI started as a follow-up of a European Commission sponsored meeting which took place in Lyon (ICT2008), in which the idea of forming a European Alliance for Innovation was put forward, consisting of a partnership of ICT key actors. The principal objective is to address the issue of the fragmentation of R&D efforts, and to represent the European ICT sector as one.

SMEs research and innovation. From idea to market: Turning knowledge into profit.
In the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of Europe, WALLONIA (DGO6-Research), organises, in collaboration with the European Commission (DG Research), a conference focusing on the needs of "Small and Medium-sized Enterprises" around the twin themes of "Research" and "Innovation" as a background.
This conference will take place on November 17th and 18th 2010 at Hotel Dolce La Hulpe (Brussels) and a total of 400 participants is expected, most of whom representing a variety of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.
The two-day debates will concentrate on the following three central themes:
Step 1 - I have an idea !
From the idea to the launch of a project/company
Step 2 - How to turn that idea into reality?
Creating your innovative environment and personal network for success
Step 3 - Meeting market and societal challenges
Is market driven innovation the way to success?
Each of these sessions will be launched by a well-known visionary speaker whose role will be to elaborate on the traditional horizons dealing with research and innovation within European Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, therefore helping the audience to put aside all pre-conceived ideas and thus hopefully leading the audience to start opening-up to current visions.
Each of these sessions should give plenty of opportunities to help European Small and Medium-sized Enterprises to describe as well as share their own experiences with the audience, under the guidance of two experienced moderators who would conduct the debates, draw a number of conclusions and perhaps offer new ways to reassess and/or reflect upon the debated topics.

FP 7 - calls open
On 20 of July European Commission has lunched 51 new calls in FP7 under the "Cooperation', "Capacities', "People' and 'Ideas'. Under the Cooperation Programme are some calls dedicated especially to SMEs. One can find them within Health, Environment, ICT and KBBE Work Programmes.
Also in Capacities a call has been open under the 'Research for the benefit of SMEs' scheme. Special attention should be paid to the new pilot action - demonstration action. The only entities eligible for participation in the new scheme are SMEs which have successfully participated in a Cooperative/Collective project in FP6 or in a 'Research for SMEs' project in FP7. Apart from that projects must be centered on the needs of SMEs to carry out demonstration activities before being able to enter the market. Activities can include testing of the product-like prototypes, scale-up studies, performance verification and implementation on new technical and non-technical solutions.
