EOMMEX is a Governmental non-profit Organization, state owned , founded in 1977, and since 1999 is operating under privet low, under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Development. Employs an executive staff of 230 experts well versed in the Policy Making and implementation of National & European Framework Programmes and projects for SMEs . EOMMEX activities cover ALL GREEK REGIONS, with a total Population of 11.000.000 inhabitants, where 780.000 SME (2006) establishments are loaded in all sectors of National Economy, within the framework of the applicable government policy using every appropriate means. In the period 2000-2007, EOMMEX supported approximately 300.000 SMEs in the secondary and tertiary sectors. EOMMEX’s mission is: • To provide Policy Making and advice to the government policy, Ministry of Development on: • The SME sector, including the formulation of a national SME development strategy • The impact of proposed and existing legislation on the SMEs sector • Means of simplifying and facilitating the business environment . • To implement the national policy in the area of SMEs through Specific Action Plans and Financial Support Programmes for the benefit of SMEs aiming at the promotion, modernization and development of the SMEs so as to enable them to meet the requirements of the constantly changing business environment. EOMMEX’s activities cover : • Enhancing Competitiveness of the SMEs • Promoting Entrepreneurship and facilitating start–ups and New Technology Based Firms as well as Youth, Women, Handicaps Entrepreneurship and other Specific population Groups. • Facilitating Innovation , ICT uptake and Technology Clusters of SMEs • Simplifying and Improving the Business Environment. • Observatory for SMEs • Education and Training for SMEs. • International Co operations . • Support of Handicrafts and National Craftsmen heritage .
