Small and medium-sized enterprises have a wide variety of very different requirements: Market strategies, product development, questions about finance or on handing over to the next generation as well as personnel recruitment are just some of the topics, if however predominant ones. Offering efficient support and concrete problem solutions is one of the core tasks of ZENIT GmbH, a consulting firm based in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

For a long time now, small and medium-sized enterprises have targeted their focus on the EU market. Our own orientation is thus also European. Thanks to pan-European networking, we are in a position to support our clients effectively in their activities abroad. This starts with providing information: From A for Athens to Z for Zaragoza.

As National Contact Point for several EU funding programmes, we offer a complete service package for everyone interested in the topic, especially applicants and participants. And under the slogan "We bring Europe closer to SMEs", the NRW.Europa consortium, which comprises ZENIT and NRW.Bank, is the one-stop shop for enterprises and research institutions for all topics concerning the European Single Market, innovation and technology transfer. The core task is the provision of comprehensive and targeted information and advice, tailored above all to assist small and medium-sized enterprises to make better use of the European market.

Many innovations would never come about without public funding. That’s why another of ZENIT’s key services is advice on funding. On behalf of clients, we check whether R&D projects are eligible for funding, advise on suitable programmes, help in project planning - including the identification of project partners – and assist in formulating applications and in project implementation. We keep in view the entire funding landscape, i.e. regional and national programmes as well as EU and other international funding and special credit schemes. In addition, anyone interested in joint projects between business and science or who, as a university graduate, is toying with the idea of setting up his own firm, has come to the right place with ZENIT. We mediate appropriate contacts under the motto “Knowledge Transfer”; PROvendis, the 100% ZENIT subsidiary, is responsible for marketing inventions from NRW’s universities. Many of these services are carried out at very favourable conditions since ZENIT - where possible - uses public funding to cover its costs.

ZENIT also nurtures contacts between entrepreneurs and other decision-makers. With its entrepreneurs’ meetings, the ZENIT Association (Netzwerk ZENIT e.V.) offers an exclusive forum for open-minded discussion and its cluster events give members and guests the opportunity to exchange ideas and launch joint activities.

In addition to the ZENIT Association with its some 200 members, the following are shareholders of ZENIT GmbH, which was founded in 1984: the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and a consortium of banks, comprising NRW.Bank, the private
Bankenvereinigung NRW and WGZ-Bank AG Westdeutsche Genossenschafts-Zentralbank (WGZ BANK). ZENIT employs some 45 people, most of whom generally have many years’ practical experience in business and either an engineering or economics background.
